Kimberley Aboriginal Regional Body Design Group
The KARB Design Group met recently again to consider the consultation report, as a result of the community consultation workshops held between September - November of this year. The decision was made to conduct a second round of consultation meetings with Kimberley Aboriginal people in 2024.

For over 40 years, Kimberley Aboriginal people have called for a regional body to speak strong, with one voice to government. A strong regional body will give us a bigger say on policies and decisions that affect our people, our country, our languages, our families.

A Voice for our people
This month BBY started facilitating important conversations across the East Kimberley about the upcoming Voice referendum. In early June, some of the BBY team travelled around the region to Wyndham, Halls Creek, Warmun and Kununurra to raise awareness and educate our people on the referendum, particularly what it will mean on the ground. The team managed to align events with Pat Farmer’s Run for the Voice around Australia.

Wyndham Youth Safe Space Report finalised
Through the Kimberley Aboriginal Youth Wellbeing Steering Committee, the WA Department of Premier & Cabinet provided a small grant to Binarri-binyja yarrawoo Aboriginal Corporation for the Wyndham Youth Safe Spaces Project and have appointed NOUS Group to work alongside key organisations in Wyndham to engage, design documentation and indictive costings for Wyndham Youth Safe Space(s).
As a result, six interrelated initiatives were identified and developed through consultations below. Further details, insights and next steps can be read in the attached Wyndham Youth Spaces Report.
