JDM Driving Transformational Systems Change
20 December 2021 / in Regional Pulse
Empowered Communities East Kimberley (BBY) is using the Joint Decision-Making process to drive transformational systems change by grouping contracts by sector. For example, all children and schooling sector IAS funding contracts were considered together in a JDM process totalling $3.25m.
The new approach has resulted in substantial change and has better aligned the region’s child and education-focused services with the education strategy developed in 2021 to guide the JDM. Funding of smaller projects was combined to support more extensive projects such as the new family support program, Mirriwong language education and Early years programs.
Together with the National Indigenous Australians Agency through JDM, Empowered Communities East Kimberley has influenced over $23m of Commonwealth investment into Aboriginal wellbeing in the region.
BBY will be commencing their 8th round of JDM next year.
